Caring in Common: A Customer Spotlight on Martina Wilson

How long have you been working for your organization?

I’ve been with the organization for 7 years.

What’s a typical day in your role like?

A typical day for me includes processing campaign envelopes and providing support in various ways to my department. This might entail making gift baskets for a workplace presentation or agency fair, as well as coordinating projects for our volunteer ladies.

What motivates you to come to work every day?

I am motivated by the smart, funny, & creative women I work with every day. We enjoy what we do here in our different roles, and we support and encourage one another, be it personally or professionally. We are like one large family with lots of characters!

What’s your favourite aspect of your job?

I love success stories! We hear a lot of heart-wrenching stuff in this business, but when you get to hear or even meet someone who has overcome their challenges, there is absolutely no better feeling. It always confirms for me that we need each other, and there is always something we can do to make the way better for someone else.

What are your biggest professional challenges?

We’ve recently gone through some major staff changes, so keeping up with what’s new, what’s out, new priorities… what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger… channeling my inner Kelly Clarkson!

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor? Can you tell us why?

I would choose the Proverbs 31 Woman, a biblical character. She makes multitasking seem easy! She is diligent, organized, and thoughtful. In all that she does, not only is she successful, but she is a blessing to others as well. My hope is that in my daily living, I am helpful and not a hindrance to others.

What’s your personal mantra?

Attitude is everything! We all face challenges and difficulties. How we handle them makes all the difference.

Do you have hobbies outside of work? What are they?

My current hobby is taking care of the home I purchased last fall. I am enjoying making it a place of simple beauty and comfort for all who visit.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Pizza!!! I love it!!! While I can eat it almost daily, I limit it to about once every few months. I had some the other day, and it was delicious! I’m good for a while now.
